I’ve been a slacker!

I have been a slacker when it comes to keeping up with the updates.  Gabe and I have been so busy trying to get this barn built before babies come!  By the time we come back inside, we are exhausted and just want a shower and bed.  It’s under roof now, but still needs the sides put on.  We had to pull off yesterday in order to get the kidding stalls ready for the momma goats.  Gabe also got the internet installed down at the animal shed, which allows us to have camera access down there now.  I have not been sleeping well at night worrying about them.  At least now when I wake up in the night, I can check the camera to see how everyone is doing.  Once I see that all is well, I can go back to sleep.  The other night I woke up at 3am and couldn’t go back to sleep.  I was dragging the entire next day and went to bed at 8:30 that night.  It’s hard to believe that babies are due Monday or Tuesday.  We’ll see when they actually decide to make their grand entrance into the world.  In talking with the breeder we bought these goats from, he mentioned that Goldie’s mom always kids about 2 days later than her due date, while Lucy’s mom kids right on her due date.  I actually hope that they do kid on different days, so that its not so chaotic when the day comes.  This will be the first kidding for the goats and us, so it would be nice to give our full concentration to each momma when it’s her time.  We have spent the last couple of weeks getting our goat health/kidding box stocked with supplies.  Man, are there A LOT of things you need!  I feel pretty confident in the supplies we have, but I’m sure there will be something at some point that we have missed. Hoping they can hold onto their babies for a couple more days to give us a little more time to prepare.
