I Can Barely Contain My Excitement!

I can barely contain my excitement! Yesterday, Gabe saw a posting asking for help regarding a rescued bull calf. This little boy was saved from becoming dog food, and at the time, couldn’t walk due to a bad leg. This wonderful family nursed him back to health, and he is now healthy and able to walk. The problem is, they don’t have a fenced-in yard for him to run around in. They can tell he wants to run and frolic, but because he has to be on a leash at all times, he is unable to. He will have a permanent home at an animal sanctuary once they are ready for him, but in the meantime, he needs a temporary home where he can be free to play in a safe environment. This is where we come in! Gabe reached out offering our little farm. We showed them the space we have and chatted about all the specifics. We agreed that it was a great fit, so he is coming to stay with us starting this Sunday! We are thinking he will live with us for a couple months or so. During this time, we plan to work with him on becoming more confident and secure, as right now he is not. He’s had a rough start, so we want him to know he’s safe and loved. We are curious to see how Molly reacts to him. We have talked about adding another little calf to our farm this spring, so that she would have a cow buddy. However, we don’t want her to feel jealous or upset. This is a nice trial to see if the addition makes her happy or anxious. I’m sure there will be an adjustment period, but I’m really hoping that they get along and make each other happy. They could be really great for each other. I know that we are going to fall in love with him and have our hearts broken when he leaves. He needs us though, and we are going to give him all the love in the world while we have him. He deserves it after all he’s been though.
