Thanksgiving Babies!

Those who have visited the farm recently already know this, but these two did the baby dance when they weren’t supposed to. Now we are expecting babies for Thanksgiving. Cooper was only 3.5 months old at the time, and I thought I had more time before getting him a buck apron(for birth control). Turns out I was wrong. Very wrong. Lesson learned. I immediately ordered additional buck aprons after witnessing their dance. I waited 3 weeks to see if Hazel would go back into heat, and she did not. A few weeks ago we had our farm vet out to ultrasound her in order to get an idea of how many babies to expect. She could see two for sure, though there is always the possibility there is a third one hiding in there. Ultrasounds for each of the three mommas to kid this past spring showed two, but each of them had triplets. Just a few days ago I felt the babies move inside her belly for the first time. That’s always so exciting! While this was not the plan, we are excited to have new babies for the Holidays. Her official due date is the day before Thanksgiving. Our does this past spring all kidded within two days of their due dates, so I would not be surprised if they make their grand entrance on Thanksgiving. This will certainly be a memorable Thanksgiving if that’s the case!
